About Us

Efficient Solutions

Founded in 2006, Australian Barge Hire (ABH) is Australia’s largest provider of road-transportable modular jack-up barges, delivering specialist marine solutions to construction, infrastructure, mining and energy projects across Australia.

With nearly two decades of experience, ABH operates a versatile fleet of modular jack-up and floating barges designed to support cranes, excavators, geotechnical drilling equipment and other specialist machinery. Our modular design allows our barges to be efficiently transported by road, assembled on site and configured to suit a wide range of project requirements.

Our jack-up barges provide safe and stable working platforms by elevating the deck above waves and tidal movements. The fleet supports operations across varying water depths and is regularly used for geotechnical drilling, bridge and wharf maintenance, port construction, marine drilling and piling, crane and lifting operations, vessel maintenance and asset access.

ABH has extensive experience supporting Tier 1 projects and major marine infrastructure works throughout Australia. Our fleet has operated on projects including the Gladstone QCLNG Project, BHP Hay Point HPX3 Expansion Project, Western Harbour Tunnel, Eden Jetty Extension, Rio Tinto Mission River Bridge maintenance works and marine infrastructure projects at Port Hedland.

Safety and reliability are central to our operations. Our vessels are maintained to a high standard, operate in AMSA Survey and are supported by qualified and experienced marine personnel. Where required, ABH can also provide personnel transfer and towage services, offering clients a complete marine support solution from mobilisation through to project delivery.

Planning to use a barge

ABH understands the importance of a seamless project launch. With just a one-month lead-in period, we efficiently conduct the initial desktop site assessment and plan for mobilisation. Your project starts without unnecessary delays.

Our fleet is currently in Northern Territory (NT), New South Wales (NSW), and Victoria (VIC). We adapt to your project’s location, ensuring convenience and cost-effectiveness.

At ABH, we offer a complete marine package, including personnel transfers and towage services. Alternatively, we can align with your preferences – if you prefer providing these services, we’ll work with you to make it happen efficiently.

Our jack-up barges are delivered fully assembled at your chosen mobilisation point. ABH handles all logistics, including trucking and crane services for assembly, so you can focus on your project’s success.

Our extensive fleet size allows us to provide multiple jack-up barges when needed, reducing program timelines and project overheads. Some projects have benefitted from up to three barges for maximum efficiency.
